Binarly Transparency Platform v2.8 Features Advanced Image Diffing

The all-new Binarly Transparency Platform v2.8 represents a pivotal leap forward in our engineering and product development processes as we shift to a more agile, monthly release cadence. This latest release introduces advanced image diffing, refined role-based access control (RBAC), and enhanced vulnerability detection capabilities, marking a significant step forward in the cybersecurity landscape.

With a strategic shift to a more agile, monthly release cadence – featuring minor updates monthly and major overhauls quarterly – Binarly is setting its sights on a future where rapid iteration is key. In an industry where cyber threats evolve by the minute, the ability to quickly deploy improvements and patch vulnerabilities is not just a competitive advantage, but a necessity.

This update also contains our newly granted U.S. Patent No. 12,236,262, “Machine Learning Technique for Efficiently Scheduling Tasks for Large-Scale Analysis of Binary Executables,” an invention that dramatically slashes vulnerability detection costs.

At the heart of this release is a suite of features designed to offer customers visibility and control over their security posture:

  • Advanced Image Diffing: By enabling users to compare different versions of uploaded binaries or images, Binarly now empowers security teams to pinpoint changes and swiftly address emerging issues. This feature is a game-changer for organizations striving to maintain a robust security posture while juggling multiple software and firmware builds. Supports security issues, trend analysis, and improved product management capabilities across products.

  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): With full self-serve capabilities for user creation and management, the platform now offers role-specific access that ensures sensitive information remains secure. Provides secure, permission-based access to platform features.

  • Enhanced Cryptographic Keys and Certificates Management: Easily view and download cryptographic keys and certificates directly from the platform via a dedicated Cryptographic Materials tab that provides detailed asset information even when no active security findings are present.
  • Enhanced Vulnerability Detection: Bolstered by newly patented technologies, the platform has slashed vulnerability detection costs while pushing the envelope on precision. The update includes improved detection for cryptographic anomalies, SMM arbitrary code execution vulnerabilities in UEFI-based firmware, and even redesigned microcode detection for leading Intel and AMD devices.

This release marks a major step forward in improving the user experience to serve more actionable insights and extending capabilities for post-quantum cryptography migration, asset management, and risk discovery, ensuring users have the tools needed to manage and secure their digital assets more effectively.
